Ribbon Cutting will be delayed two weeks due to impending weather

(Fredericksburg, VA) October 25, 2019 – The City of Fredericksburg and the Washington Capitals have postponed the Grand Opening event for the Fredericksburg Roller Hockey Rink due to impending weather. The ribbon cutting and children’s clinics have been rescheduled until Sunday, November 10, 2019 with the ceremony beginning at 1:00pm. The public is invited to attend the ceremony and tour the rink which is located in Dixon Park, 1300 Dixon Street in Fredericksburg.

The free Children’s Street Hockey Clinic will begin at 1:45pm on Sunday, November 10th as well. Due to the overwhelming popularity of the children’s clinics, the Washington Capitals are adding a second clinic for 8-14 year olds at 3:00pm. Participants who have already registered will be notified directly by the Washington Capitals. Details about the new clinic signups will be made available on fxbghockey.com. For questions and concerns regarding the clinics please email [email protected].

The new rink was constructed in Dixon Park with a custom Riley Manufactured board system and a NOVA Play II flooring surface featuring the Capitals logo. The rink also features a Daktronics scoreboard with the Capitals logo. The rink has been built as a partnership between the Washington Capitals and the City of Fredericksburg, with generous support from the new Fredanthropist program and the Fredericksburg Youth Roller Hockey organization. In addition to supporting the new rink construction, the Washington Capitals are providing hockey equipment and teacher curriculum to all four City schools’ physical education departments.
